Warm Up Your Engines - FRP Looks Forward to Pitt Race Event in One Month

May 22, 2020

“First event is set for June 19th – 21st”

Having remained in the paddock for the past few months due to COVID-19 shutdowns, we are now heading to the grid for the first race of 2020! Formula Race Promotions (FRP) is excited to get back on track and kick off their 2020 campaign in just under one months’ time. Putting the finishing touches on the June 19 – 21st weekend at the 2.80 mile, 18-turn Pittsburgh International Race Complex (PittRace), excitement is high as series officials prepare to wave the green flag and get the season rolling.

“We are looking forward to returning to a real racetrack as we continue working with the facility and SCCA Pro Racing to set appropriate COVID-19 guidelines that will be in place at the track,” expressed Bob Wright. “Our virtual series has been a surprising success, but I know all of us miss the smell of race fuel and some good, close wheel-to-wheel racing.”

Taking place June 19 – 21st, Formula Race Promotions will run seven different race groups including Atlantic, Prototype, F1000, F1600, F2000, RCFFC and Challenge Cup. The increased buzz on social media indicates teams and competitors are getting back on track - testing, finalizing livery designs and completing upgrades for the 2020 season. PittRace has recently re-opened, and FRP’s weekend schedule will be up on the website shortly.

Wright added, “We know that everyone is excited, but we need to approach the race weekend with some caution. It will be a different atmosphere in the paddock with continued social distancing guidelines, but the on-track action is bound to be as competitive as ever, especially with the amount of time between the close of 2019 and the start of 2020.”

Formula Race Promotions is inviting any and all competitors to their kickoff event for 2020. Registration is open and hotels in the area have plenty of accommodations. We can’t wait to see you trackside!
